Are you sick of all those extra fees you get charged at the airport? Well it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere anytime soon.
According to analyst projections, airlines worldwide are expected to pull in $49.9 Billion in fees alone. That equates to more than double what revenue from fees were five years ago.
With the amount of total air passengers now up to over 3 Billion, airlines have no shortage of pockets to pull from. In addition to charging fees for luggage, many carriers are also now charging for seat selection in coach while also offering amenities historically reserved for elite fliers, all for an extra charge.
