Bottled Water and Candy: The Good Life
April 2, 2015
I’ve lived my entire 25 years in the Washington, DC area and I almost never go into the city. The reason? There are three. Parking is terrible, I don’t like dealing with the metro, and taxis are incredibly expensive. So for the longest time my solution to this was to stay in the suburbs. That all changed when I found out about a service that suspiciously rhymes with “Moober”.
Now, the purpose of this post is not to promote them but rather, to portray the varying degrees of customer service I’ve experienced. So let’s start.
My most recent trip with “Moober” began like any other for-hire ride service. The driver arrived, asked where my friends and I were going, and got us on the road. But during the trip he offered us bottles of water and Starbursts, asked if we wanted to connect our phones through Bluetooth to play music, and even asked if we needed to stop anywhere before we got to our destination. All this for a less than $30 ride? I was impressed.
Now, this is not the norm. I’ve been in “Moober” cars where the driver didn’t play any music or offer candy, but then again those are extras. At the end of the day, you hire these people to take you from point A to point B, not to cater to your every need.
But in terms of a customer experience, I have to admit; sometimes the little things are nice.
