Millennials Really Like Public Transit

For the first time in more than six decades, young Americans are driving less than previous generations. For many years turning 16 and getting your driver’s license was like a rite of passage. It granted you the feeling that you could go anywhere and do anything (within the constraints of a curfew).

Today, however, it would seem that freedom now comes much earlier than 16, in the form of a smartphone. You can find out the what, the when, and the where from the palm of your hand, and if you live in a major city, the how in getting there is much easier.

The younger generation is apparently taking full advantage of public transit much more than in the past. That’s not to say that Americans aren’t driving because ¾’s of all drivers in the US still ride alone, but millennials are certainly setting a tone for the future of transportation.
