The Transit Role Model

Apparently Washington, D.C. should be the example for all other major metropolitan cities to follow in terms of how to invest in transportation.

The Nation’s Capital has set the stride by excelling in multi-modal transit, including its still in-development streetcar system. Over the past few years officials have made transit improvement a top priority. This is most apparent with the large number of bike lanes popping up. DC was the first city in the US to institute a bike sharing system back in 2008 with SmartBike. Similar systems were put in place in cities such as NYC not long after.

It isn’t hard to tell that the District of Columbia is clearly ahead of the pack in transportation development.
