In South Korea, Uber, the Transportation Technology Giant, is offering free rides to citizens in hopes that they won’t report drivers to authorities.
In Seoul, South Korea’s capital city, the service is illegal and punishable for drivers by up to two years in prison or fines of about $20,000 USD. As an incentive for participation, the government is also offering rewards of a little more than $900 USD.
It almost makes you wonder what the penalty would be for passengers. Almost.
